Laser treatment for Vaginal Dryness
Decreased estrogen levels: what causes vaginal dryness?
Vaginal dryness (vaginal atrophy) can occur at any age, but is most often caused by menopause, or an illness or a side effect of a medication. Vaginal dryness is usually caused by a drop in estrogen levels, which causes the atrophy of vaginal tissues: thinning of the vaginal walls. This way its glands cannot produce enough hydrating elements to keep the vagina moist and healthy. .
The decrease in the function of the so-called Bartholin's Glands causes discomfort: dryness and itching of the genital areas. In addition to the discomfort, this can also make sexual intercourse difficult and painful.
The perfect solution to this problem is the vaginal laser treatment, which safely and effectively helps to restore vaginal comfort and moisture.
Treating vaginal dryness with intimate laser treatment
The treatment is performed using the Candela CO2RE Intima laser device, which has a treatment head specially designed for vaginal procedures.
Candela CO2RE Intima
The fractionated CO2 laser works with maximum safety and efficiency to solve genital problems: we can treat vaginal dryness without surgery and without any pain. During the treatment, the laser beam causes micro-injuries in the vagina, which stimulates cell regeneration and collagen production.
Vaginal dryness may disappear completely
In the following months after treatment:
- the vaginal wall is strengthened,
- the blood supply and hydration of the vagina are improved,
- new collagen fibers are produced,
- the connective tissue regenerates, becoming more flexible and firm,
- the vaginal flora is restored, the vaginal comfort is renewed.
Procedure
The first step in the treatment is to disinfect and numb the treated area. Next, the laser head is used to heat the connective tissue of the vaginal wall, moving from the inside to the outside of the vagina. Essentially, the laser light causes micro-injuries in the connective tissue, which increases collagen production, regenerates the surface and ultimately eliminates vaginal dryness.
There is no pain involved in the procedure, only a slight sensation of warmth in the treated area due to the heat generated by the laser. After the treatment, we will give you detailed instructions on aftercare protocol.

Vaginal laser treatment is also available for younger and older patients with vaginal dryness. Vaginal dryness is associated with a decrease in estrogen levels, which most often develops in the following cases:
- after childbirth or breastfeeding,
- menopause,
- a drastic change in lifestyle, a side effect of dieting.
Usually 1-3 sessions are needed to relieve vaginal dryness, but the number of sessions depends on age, ovarian function and the severity of the problem. It is possible that up to 4+ sessions may be required to achieve a full result.
To increase the results, treatment can be combined with estrogen therapy if the gynecologist feels it is necessary.
There is usually a break of 4-5 weeks between sessions. After the third session, there should be a break of at least 6 months to allow the body enough time to recover. Maintenance treatment is recommended every 1-2 years.
After the first treatment you will notice a significant improvement in the dryness of the vagina. As the treatments progress and the intimate area regenerates, the problem will gradually improve.
Swelling and burning sensation may occur in the treated area after the procedure, which will disappear within a short time. For 1 week after the laser treatment, avoid solarium, bathing in sitting position, sun exposure, swimming pools and sexual activity.
Treatment is not recommended in case of pregnancy, breast-feeding, menstruation, active infection, febrile illness or cancer, or when taking photosensitising medication.
