Oily skin, blackheads

Acne-prone, oily skin is characterised by excessive sebum production, which should be normalised and can be improved with a proper skin care routine and specific treatments. For long-term results, a combination of the two is essential.

What causes oily skin and blackheads?

Oily skin, or seborrheic skin, is caused by overactive sebaceous glands. In some cases, sebum production is increased by default, but sometimes it is only increased by certain factors.

Seborrhoea is most common on the face and scalp, where most sebaceous glands are found. The skin type is often combined and the more oily areas are limited to the T-zone. Oily skin is characterized by enlarged pores that are visible due to increased sebum production. Blackheads (comedones) are common, as well as breakouts and acne when increased sebum clogs the pores. This results in an uneven skin surface. Oily seborrhoeic skin is usually shiny, greasy looking and less likely to get dehydrated. The other form, dehydrated seborrheic skin, has a dull, rough and often flaky surface and superficial water deficiency.

Increased sebum production and oily skin can be caused by a number of factors, including hormonal changes, age, stress, improper skin care routine, consumption of certain foods and weather conditions.

They also help to restore and strengthen the skin's barrier layer, while regulating sebum production and reducing inflammation. However, to develop a truly effective skin care routine, it is important to include the most appropriate products into your daily routine, for which we offer our expertise during our skin analysis consultation.

Proper hydration is also crucial for oily skin. Hyaluronic acid, naturally occurring in the skin, is responsible for keeping the complexion hydrated. As we age, the level of hyaluronic acid begins to decline, the skin loses moisture and therefore its firmness, leading to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. An effective solution to this is the so-called hyaluronic layering, the basis of Intraceuticals skin care system. The process involves the delivery of 3 different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid into different layers of the skin to provide comprehensive hydration. The different hyaluronic molecules revitalize, plump and protect the skin.

Meso-botox

Not many people know it, but botox has a huge role not only in the reduction of wrinkles but also in the treatment of oily skin. In meso-botox, botulinum toxin is injected into the top layers of the skin in a dilution of five to ten times. Botox reduces the increased production of sebum and significantly improves the condition of acne and blackheads. The treatment results in a more even complexion and less visible pores.
