Endocrine screening packages
Endocrine blood sampling is an extremely important diagnostic tool in the evaluation of the functioning of the endocrine system. This test allows the assessment of hormonal balance and the detection of hormonal abnormalities and diseases. Based on the results, the doctor can develop an appropriate therapy and treatment plan, helping to improve the patient's health and prevent possible complications. Many symptoms may be caused by a disruption of the hormonal system, such as fatigue, hair loss, a feeling of a pounding heartbeat, or a shift in body weight in any direction. Endocrine lab tests can help to clarify this.

About the package
The test is designed to detect polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition that often leads to female infertility if left untreated. The condition is named after the numerous superficial cystic (blistering) formations that can be detected by ultrasound scans of the ovaries. Affected patients are characterised by a complex hormonal and metabolic disorder, which is also associated with disturbances of the female menstrual cycle and can lead to difficulty conceiving, inability to conceive and infertility. It is also often associated with insulin resistance (IR) and thyroid problems. The prevalence among women of childbearing age is 7-15%.
The exact cause of PCOS is unknown, and both environmental and genetic factors contribute to its development, but in addition to the symptoms listed below, certain laboratory abnormalities are common and are investigated in the package.
Who is it for?
The PCOS package is recommended for people who are experiencing the following symptoms:
- missing menstrual cycles for up to several months (oligomenorrhoea) - when the average length of the cycle is longer than 35 days
- absence of menstruation (amenorrhoea) - when the cycle is longer than 180 days
- failure to ovulate, anovulatory cycles - findings: LH/FSH ratio greater than 2.5 and slightly elevated prolactin levels
- enlargement of both ovaries - detected by gynaecological or ultrasound findings tiny cysts on the surface of the ovaries in a row of pearls - detectable by ultrasound in 90% of cases
- increased hair on the face, chest - findings include elevated levels of free testosterone, DHEAS (male sex hormone) and androstenedione (androgenic steroid hormone), decreased SHBG (sex hormone binding protein) levels
- obesity (although PCOS is also common in people with a thin build) insulin resistance, i.e. disturbance of carbohydrate metabolism - findings: abnormal 3-point blood glucose and insulin curve on glucose load
- lipid metabolism disorder - findings: high total cholesterol, LDL-C and TG levels and low HDL-C levels
- associated hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's thyroiditis - TSH, fT4, fT3, anti-TPO abnormalities associated low vitamin D levels are also common
How to prepare for the test?
The package includes an oral glucose and insulin blood test. Please present for the test on an empty stomach, which means fasting for 12 hours (water is recommended). Also daily carbohydrate intake should not exceed 250 grams in the 3 days prior to the blood test. The glucose will be given for the test at the blood collection site, you do not need to bring anything.

About the package
The test provides information about the body's inadequate insulin response. Insulin resistance is not a disease in its own right, but is associated with other conditions (cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes), but it is a reversible condition and early detection and treatment is essential to prevent the development of diabetes and metabolic syndrome. In women, insulin resistance is often associated with a condition called PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome - a hormonal disorder of the female body that can lead to infertility), which can also be detected by testing.
Who is it for?
It is recommended for people who are overweight, have abdominal obesity, infertility problems and a sedentary lifestyle. It is also recommended for people with a suspected history of diabetes and for those with a family history of diabetes.
How to prepare for the examination?
Please arrive for the test on an empty stomach, which means fasting for 12 hours (water is recommended). Daily carbohydrate intake should not exceed 250 grams in the 3 days before the blood test. 75 grams of glucose will be given for the test at the blood collection site, you do not need to bring anything with you.

About the package
Osteoporosis is also known as the "silent disease" because it initially has no clinical symptoms. Tests can be done to detect osteoporosis and reduced bone mass, to determine the likelihood of the individual developing the disease and whether the disease already has a hormonal or other cause. The effectiveness of treatment can also be monitored.
Who is it recommended for?
We recommend screening for osteoporosis to our patients with the following symptoms:
Women over 45 years of age, especially women (may also be related to reduced estrogen production)
- a family history of osteoporosis (parents, siblings, especially if associated with fractures)
- thin or short stature (lower initial bone mass)
- smoking
- leading a sedentary lifestyle
- often suffer from fractures
- has an unbalanced diet, resulting in reduced intake of vitamins and minerals (vitamin D and calcium)
- high consumption of soft drinks, caffeinated drinks and alcohol
- hormonal imbalances: early menopause, ovariectomy, lower testosterone levels in men malabsorption, digestive disorders, inflammatory bowel diseases thyroid and parathyroid disease
