Laser pigmentation removal
What causes hyperpigmentation?
The natural pigments in our bodies are responsible for the color of our eyes, skin and hair and protect us from harmful UV rays. The pigment that gives us our skin color is called melanin and plays a very important role in protecting the skin. However, sometimes, for some external and/or internal reason, there is an overproduction of melanin, which causes hyperpigmentation in the affected area. These disturbing brown spots can appear anywhere on the body, but most commonly on the most exposed areas such as the face, neck, chest and arms, as UV radiation plays a huge role in their development.
There are several reasons why pigmentation may develop:
- excessive sun exposure - UV rays accelerates melanin production,
- the use of tanning beds/solarium,
- hormonal changes (e.g. pregnancy, menopause),
- certain medications,
- inflammation of the skin (e.g. acne),
- due to the aging of the skin cells,
- as a side effect of internal organ dysfunction,
- chemical or mechanical effects.
The most innovative technologies
The procedure is performed using the DEKA Again Alexandrite and ND:YAG laser, considered the gold standard in medical lasers, and the most innovative equipment from a high-end brand. The DEKA Again was voted the best laser device in the world by the AMWC (Aesthetic & Anti-Aging Medicine World Congress) in Monaco in 2022.
Safe, precise, double laser technology
The DEKA Again uses dual laser technology: it delivers high-energy pulses to the skin at two different wavelengths (755 nm for the Alexandrite laser and 1064 nm for the ND:YAG), which can target and destroy both deeper and more superficial hyperpigmentation.
DEKA Again's laser technology guarantees an extremely safe and thorough treatment, whether it's for the removal of a darker spot or an extensive pigmented area.
Impressive results
Pigmentation removal with laser is a highly effective medical aesthetic treatment that leaves you with more even , healthy and radiant skin. The severity, type and depth of hyperpigmentation will determine the exact settings and number of sessions that are required to achieve the best results.
What happens with the pigmentation?
The laser light is absorbed into the melanin. The absorbed light is converted into heat, destroying the hyperpigmented cells that were caused by photo damage. Meanwhile, normal cells are left intact, and during the healing process they help regenerate the targeted areas. The heat from the laser increases collagen production in the skin, which allows the skin surface to recover quickly after treatment. The result is a more uniform and healthy looking skin.
Procedure
At the beginning of the treatment, the skin is thoroughly cleansed and disinfected. The area is then numbed to minimize any discomfort during the procedure. The laser light is passed through the targeted area, causing micro-damage to the affected areas and breaking down the pigment cells, resulting in tissue regeneration. To minimize any discomfort that may occur, the skin surface is continuously cooled during the procedure. Slight redness and sensitivity may be experienced immediately after the laser treatment, but these disappear within a short time. The patient must wear protective eyewear during the treatment.

Frequently asked questions
Do you have more questions?
Laser pigment removal is recommended for those who are dealing with hyperpigmentation.
Treatment is recommended in the following cases:
- hyperpigmentation caused by sun damage,
- remaining dark spots caused by acne or other inflammation,
- Hormonal hyperpigmentation e.g. melasma,
- age-related hyperpigmentation.
The treatment uses the DEKA Again Alexandrite and the ND:YAG laser, which works at two different wavelengths, to treat both deeper and more superficial pigmentations. Unlike traditional laser devices, DEKA Again offers a unique, advanced technology, as it can be used on all skin types from the lightest to the more creole skin tone.
The number of treatments needed to remove pigment spots varies from one person to another. After a consultation, we will specify the number of treatments based on the specific type of problem and the size of the affected area.
Complete pigmentation removal is a longer process, with 4-6 weeks between treatments to allow the skin to recover properly. During and after the entire course of treatment, it is important to take extra care with sun protection.
You need completely dry and clean skin for the procedure, so do not apply any skin care product or make-up to the area for 24 hours before the treatment. Also, avoid sun exposure and solarium for 1-2 weeks before the treatment.
After the procedure, you may experience some mild redness and sensitivity in the treated areas, but this will disappear quickly on its own. After the treatment, the pigmentations may darken temporarily and then gradually fade. Peeling of the skin is a completely natural process: the upper layer of the skin is renewed within 1-2 weeks.
After the treatment, the skin should be treated with gentle care: avoid the use of make-up and other cosmetic products (except for certain soothing, hydrating and regenerating products) for a few days. Also avoid strong heat (e.g. hot baths, saunas), other aesthetic and cosmetic treatments, hair removal, sunlight and tanning beds for a month. After the procedure proper sun protection is extremely important.
The treatment cannot be performed during pregnancy, breast-feeding, inflammation of the skin, active skin disease, oncological diseases or while taking photosensitising medication.
