Tummy tuck
The ultimate solution for removing sagging, loose abdominal skin and excess fat, correcting the abdominal muscles to restore a flat and firm abdomen.
NextAbdominoplasty
Sagging skin in the abdominal area can significantly affect our self-esteem, causing problems during intimate intercourse, sports or when it comes to choosing what to wear. Everyone wants a flat and firm stomach, but in many cases we cannot achieve or maintain the desired body shape even through regular exercise and proper nutrition. There can be many reasons why the abdomen loses its youthful shape and firmness, becomes saggy and flaccid.
It is mainly influenced by genetic factors and age, but it can also be caused by hormonal changes, significant weight loss or pregnancy, even more with twins. The protrusion of the abdomen can be caused by the separation of the two abdominal muscles. In case of obesity, the skin can hang down in an apron-like manner with the fatty layer, which can cause not only aesthetic but also hygienic problems.
If exercise and cosmetic body treatments are no longer effective, surgery may be necessary to achieve a real spectacular result. A tummy tuck is a way of removing sagging skin and excess fat, reconstructing the abdominal muscles and making the stomach firm and flat again.
Mini abdominoplasty
Mini or partial abdominoplasty is excellent for correcting the contour of the lower abdomen. It is a smaller procedure than a full tummy tuck, so you can expect a faster recovery time. The operation removes excess skin, leaving the area below smooth and taut again, with a barely noticeable scar below the bikini line. If necessary, it can be combined with liposuction.Midi abdominoplasty
A midi tummy tuck combines the advantages of a mini and a full tummy tuck. The surgery is mainly used to correct split abdominal muscles or in cases where there is no excess skin above the navel. In a midi tummy tuck, the incision is made deep above the pubic mound down to the hipbones, leaving no visible scar around the navel, unlike a full tummy tuck. The procedure can also be performed in combination with liposuction.Full abdominoplasty
A full abdominoplasty is recommended when pregnancy or major weight loss has resulted in a large degree of abdominal skin stretching, flabbiness and laxity, and a separation of the abdominal muscles. During the operation, excess skin and fat is removed, new contours are created and the navel is repositioned accordingly, and the plastic surgeon corrects the muscles of the abdominal wall.Combined abdominoplasty
In our clinic it is possible to perform several plastic surgery procedures at the same time. Abdominoplasty is often combined with breast correction. The huge advantage of a combined abdominoplasty is that it does not require multiple anaesthetics and does not double the recovery time.Immediate result right away
The results of a tummy tuck are immediately visible, and the final shape takes about half a year to complete, thanks to the healing process.
Improved appearance, greater self-confidence
Thanks to the surgical procedure, a sagging, flaccid abdomen will be flat and tight again, resulting in a boost in self-esteem.
A tummy tuck is preceded by careful planning and a precise surgical plan to ensure the most natural result for your body.
Procedure
During your initial consultation, our plastic surgeon will assess your abdominal condition and your expectations and provide a detailed explanation of the available treatment options, surgical procedures and the results you can achieve.
A precise surgical plan will be prepared. The operation will require some compulsory tests to be done. Laboratory tests, an ECG, chest X-ray and abdominal ultrasound are all essential, but certain illnesses, medication and previous plastic surgery may justify further tests.
Depending on the type of surgery and the extent of the procedure, the operation will take approximately 1.5-2 hours.
For traditional abdominoplasty, our plastic surgeon will make incisions in the bikini line, passing below the navel and extending to the hip bone. During the surgery, he removes the necessary amount of fat and skin tissue, straightens the removed abdominal muscles and tightens the remaining skin of the abdominal wall, fixing the navel in its original position.
During an umbilical abdominoplasty procedure, the navel is also incised around and, if necessary, our specialist will create a new position for it on the abdominal wall.
During the surgery, drain tubes are inserted into the wound to drain the excess secretions/discharge. Abdominoplasty can also be combined with liposuction if there is excess fat.

Surgery may be considered in the following cases:
- The skin loses elasticity and firmness with age
- Sagging skin can lead to a more severe build-up of fatty tissue
- After pregnancy, even more with twins, the skin, which has expanded due to a large weight loss, cannot regain its original shape, and becomes saggy and loose in an apron-like manner
- A gap is formed between the longitudinal abdominal muscles, through which the contents of the abdominal cavity protrude and a protrusion is seen on the abdominal wall
- In the case of a bulging hernia
Regular medication can be taken prior to the procedure, but it is essential to consult your plastic surgeon if you are taking anticoagulant medication (e.g. aspirin). Recovery after the procedure can be improved by drinking plenty of water, resting and taking skin-regenerating products recommended by the surgeon.
Mobilization starts the day after the operation. Avoid any kind of intense physical activity for 1-2 weeks after the abdominoplasty, after which you can gradually return to your previous activities and moderate exercise. For relaxation, it is recommended that the upper body is supported and sleep in a semi-sitting position. After the operation, a special compression garment is provided, which should be worn for 6-8 weeks and is recommended for use during sport activities. The surgical area must be kept dry for one week. Direct UV light, such as sunbathing and solarium, should be avoided for at least two months after the operation, as should saunas.
The surgical site will develop bruising and swelling after the operation, which should disappear completely in about 5-6 weeks. In case of physical pain in the days after the operation, painkillers are recommended. A low molecular weight heparin solution is used to prevent blood clots (trombosis).
At the end of the surgery, drain tubes are inserted into the wound to ensure proper drainage of the secretions. This is removed and the wound re-bandaged by the plastic surgeon after 3 days. After 8 days, at the next check-up, the adhesive bandage is removed and the wound is covered with sterile gauze sheets. The sutures are removed after 2-3 days, followed by a six-week follow-up. At this time it will be possible to see whether the wound has healed properly and the skin has reattached well.
Like all operations, a tummy tuck can have some complications. Bleeding and increased production of lymph and tissue fluid may occur within 24-48 hours after the procedure. There may also be inflammation, which can cause mucous discharge. In more severe cases, skin and tissue necrosis may also occur, in most cases due to circulatory dysfunction. It usually occurs around the navel and heals spontaneously, but may take months to recover. Patients who are predisposed to scarring disorders - may develop keloid, hypertrophic or atrophic scars - and inflammation of the surgical scar. In case of a known scarring disorder, it is important to inform the plastic surgeon about this during the initial consultation, as the problem may affect the course of the procedure and the aftercare.
- A sagging, drooping abdomen will be restored to a flat and tight shape
- The aesthetic appearance of the apron stomach can be improved
- Skin stretched after pregnancy or major weight loss will regain its original shape
- Weight loss or pregnancy stretch marks ( striae) can be eliminated
- Correction of a split abdominal muscle
It takes approximately six months for the surgical area to fully recover, by this time the results of the procedure will be visible. At the first check-up, after the plastic surgeon removes the bandage, you will see that the excess skin has been removed and the protrusion of the abdomen has disappeared, but at this stage, the final abdominal appearance is not visible due to bruising and swelling.
