Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is the only permanent solution for correcting deformities of the nose - invisible and lifelong results!
NextA well-balanced face with a new look thanks to rhinoplasty
The shape, position and size of the nose have a significant impact on facial shape and appearance. As we age, the nose becomes more pronounced on the face, as the facial skin loses its firmness, sags and the fullness of the tissues diminishes. As a result, the overall appearance of the face can change, meaning that the nose becomes more prominent. The shape of the nose and its deformities can only be corrected permanently by plastic surgery.
Rhinoplasty is typically done for aesthetic reasons, but it can also be done for medical reasons as well. We recommend a consultation if you:
- find your nose too big or too small,
- find it strangely narrow or wide,
- want a more symmetrical, straighter nose,
- want a nose that is more proportionate to your face,
- have a nose that is deformed due to an accident or a broken nose,
- have a deviated septum that causes breathing difficulties.
The only everlasting solution
After plastic surgery on your nose, your face will look more in harmony, which will boost your self-image and self-confidence. You will look back in the mirror with a face that you feel completely at peace with.
Essentially, rhinoplasty is the only permanent solution to treat nasal deformities. This will bring a long lasting and effective solution to the problem and also a change to your life, as the effects of the surgery will be visible on your face for the rest of your life. However, the procedure will be almost invisible: there will be no remaining scars from your rhinoplasty.
The two types of rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty specialists currently use two types of technique, determined by the severity of the problem and the extent of the reshaping. However, in most cases, the nasal tip is remodeled and the cartilage and nasal bones are reshaped.
Closed rhinoplasty (endonasal rhinoplasty)
Incisions are made only within the nostrils to correct the nasal bone and cartilage during surgery. With this technique, there will be no scar at all visible on the outside. This technique is mostly used when the patient wants minor changes and the reshaping of the nasal tip.
Open rhinoplasty (external rhinoplasty)
A small incision is made in the columella, which is the soft tissue that separates the nostrils, so that the plastic surgeon can more easily access the bone and cartilage in the nose. This method gives a wider range of movement and a better view, as well as access to a larger area of the nose, so it is often used for more drastic corrections.
Procedure
The very first step in the surgical process is a consultation with a specialist, during which our plastic surgeon will create a personalized treatment plan and a digital facial design based on your needs so you can see exactly what you can expect after your rhinoplasty. Afterwards, we'll go over the procedure details and the aftercare protocol. Before the operation you will have a full check-up: we will do a laboratory test, ECG and ultrasound scan to determine any potential concerns that may affect the procedure.
On the day of the surgery, we will prepare and disinfect the area. Nose surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia, however, depending on the plastic surgeon's opinion, the procedure may be performed under local anesthesia only if the extent of the procedure is not major.
The 1-1.5 hour procedure begins with shaping the nose, where the bones and cartilages are fractured and removed if necessary. If the nose needs to be rebuilt, a cartilage graft is also performed. Cartilage is taken from the middle part of the nose, the ears or perhaps the ribs. We then reattach the skin and close the wound with absorbable sutures according to the type of surgery.
At the end of the operation, a nasal tampon is placed in the nostrils for 1-2 days to prevent bleeding. We also use a cast to secure the nose. You will spend 1 day in the clinic after the treatment and will be discharged the next day with an accompanying adult.

Rhinoplasty is recommended if
- you are not happy with the shape and/or size of your nose,
- you need reconstructive nose surgery due to an accident, injury or fracture,
- you may want to get rid of a deviated septum that is causing you to have constant stuffiness in your nose, uncomfortable snoring and breathing difficulties.
The results of the plastic surgery will be very noticeable after about 3 months, but it will take at least 1 year to see the final shape of your nose.
The effects of rhinoplasty can be considered permanent, but due to natural aging processes, the nose may change to some extent over the years.
You must stop smoking and using nicotine-containing products before a rhinoplasty, as nicotine slows down the healing process. In addition, you should avoid anticoagulants, vitamin C, selenium, zinc, ginkgo biloba and other herbal supplements. Make sure you drink enough water before your procedure to keep your body properly hydrated before surgery.
If you wear glasses, make sure you discuss this with your doctor beforehand, as the cast covering your nose will need to be adjusted accordingly.
Immediately after the surgery, swelling, bruising, mild bleeding and pain can occur in the treated area, which will disappear after about 2 weeks. At the end of the procedure, the nose will be secured with a cast, which you will have to wear for about 1 week, which may cause uncomfortable nasal blockage. Recovery time is usually 7-14 days, after which you can go back to work.
- After rhinoplasty, blowing the nose is completely forbidden for 2-4 weeks, only wiping the nose is allowed.
- Do not pinch, hit or touch your nose under any circumstances, as this may affect the recovery.
- Eat soft, mushy foods for the first few days.
- You can speed up the healing process by icing the treated area every two hours for 20-25 minutes every day for 1 week.
- Avoid exercise and intense physical activity for 1 month and avoid lifting heavy objects and also bending.
- Avoid hot, salty, spicy foods, hot baths and steam.
- We recommend sleeping on your back with your upper body padded up.
- Be sure to avoid smoking and drinking alcohol for a few weeks.
- Stay away from solariums, saunas and swimming pools for at least 1 month, and keep your nose protected from sun exposure.
- Do not wear glasses for at least 2 months. If glasses are essential for you, consult with your doctor.
Rhinoplasty is not recommended during pregnancy, breastfeeding, menstruation, febrile illness or acute illness. In addition, a consultation with a specialist is recommended if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease or organ problems.
