Photorejuvenation with IPL

We restore the skin's healthy and youthful appearance with intense pulse light therapy - IPL treatment will make your complexion firm and smooth again!

Photorejuvenation to combat aging

We boost the skin's healthy and youthful appearance with intense pulse light therapy - IPL treatment will make your complexion firm and smooth again!

As we age our skin loses its elasticity, becomes dehydrated and starts to sag, which is a natural process of aging. The photorejuvenation procedure on the other hand, safely and effectively triggers the body's regenerative ability to restore a radiant, refreshed and youthful complexion.

Photorejuvenation involves the use of IPL technology, which uses intense pulse light energy to rejuvenate the skin.

After the treatment:

  • an even, harmonious complexion
  • reduced sun damage
  • reduced redness of the skin
  • increased collagen production, firmer tissues
  • tightened/minimized pores
  • improved water retention capacity of the skin
  • normalized sebum production
  • hyperpigmentations and acne scars fade.

IPL can help to rejuvenate your complexion significantly, book your consultation and find out more about the treatment!

IPL (Intense Pulse Light) treatment uses high-energy to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin, where it is converted into thermal energy. This stimulates the production of collagen and elastin fibers, which are responsible for the elasticity, firmness and tightness of the skin. Increased collagen production triggers the body's natural regenerative capacity, improving skin quality and reducing wrinkles and imperfections.

Award-winning technology

Candela's Nordlys™ system was voted "Best Energy Device of the Year" at the 2022 Aesthetic Awards.

A personalised solution for skin rejuvenation

The IPL works with short bursts of light, which can be adjusted with extreme precision and accuracy according to the skin problem and skin type. It works in a very wide range of wavelengths, from 570 to 1200 nm. IPL treatment is fully customisable and is also an effective and safe solution, it does not damage the skin's surface at all, as it works in the deeper layers of the skin.

Procedure

The skin surface is thoroughly cleaned, disinfected and the birthmarks are covered, as the energy released by the IPL can have a negative effect on them. The eyes are covered with protective eyewear during the treatment, then a cooling gel is applied to the cleared skin.

The IPL works like a flashlight: it delivers a broad spectrum of light, the thermal energy of which penetrates the deeper layers of the skin. This rejuvenates the skin: collagen and elastin fiber production is intensified, cell division is enhanced and tissues begin to regenerate.

The flashes from the IPL can cause a warm, stinging, burning sensation in the area, that is why we apply the cooling gel to the area at the beginning. This will ensure minimal discomfort during the procedure.

Finally, we remove the gel from the skin and apply a soothing cream along with a broad spectrum SPF to the treated area.

Frequently Asked Questions

The IPL treatment regenerates the skin's texture, restoring freshness, radiance and a youthful appearance.

Here's some of the ways the procedure can benefit you:

  • the appearance of a more even, well-balanced complexion,
  • reduction of redness,
  • minimize pores,
  • Improve skin condition and firmness,
  • normalizing sebum production.

IPL treatment is suitable for lighter to medium skin types. For creole or darker skin tones, a previous consultation is required to determine what other treatment is suitable for rejuvenation in addition to/instead of IPL.

A break of 4 weeks should be taken between treatments to allow the skin time to rejuvenate. It is advisable to schedule treatments in the autumn and winter months

During the IPL treatment series, you should pay extra attention to UV protection. As IPL treatment is primarily used on fair/medium skin, it is also advisable to avoid artificial or natural tanning prior to treatment. It is important not to use certain skin care products (e.g. retinol, acid based exfoliants) for a few weeks before the treatment, as they can lead to hypersensitivity of the skin in combination with the treatment.

After the treatment, you may experience mild erythema, swelling and sunburn-like redness in the treated area, but these will disappear on their own within a few days. As a result of the treatment, darker sports will temporarily darken and redden (even turn gray/black), and after a few days it will peel off and fade or even disappear completely.

The treatment is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin condition or inflammation, are suffering from fever, epilepsy, cancer, certain chronic diseases, sun allergy or are taking photosensitising medicines. In addition, it is important to remember about the area being treated:

  • it cannot be tattooed (with the exception of the lip contour, and eyebrows),
  • you must avoid mechanical or chemical peels for 2 weeks before the treatment,
  • laser skin treatment should not be applied to the skin for at least 1 month prior to the procedure.
