Intimate lightening
Cosmetic lighting to fade and eliminate hyperpigmentation on the intimate areas
With age and hormonal changes, the skin of the intimate parts of the body can darken and discolour. Intimate hyperpigmentation is a disorder caused by increased melanin production and can affect the genitals, perineum, pubic mound, groin, inner thighs, buttocks and perianal areas.
Both internal and external factors may be involved in its development.
The ageing process of the skin starts in the mid-twenties and results in the loss of firmness, sagging, the appearance of the first wrinkles and pigmentation disorders. The production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid by our skin gradually decreases, and healthy and optimal functions such as the production of melanin, the pigment in our skin, may be disrupted. As a result, the skin in the intimate areas may lose elasticity and firmness, and pigmentation disorders may also occur in these areas. In addition to the natural ageing process, genetic factors are also responsible for hyperpigmentation, which is more common in people with phototypes IV, V and VI.
- Increased pigmentation of the intimate area may also be caused by increased oestrogen levels, as this increases the activity of the tyrosinase enzyme responsible for melanin production.
- Discolouration can also develop in case of improper body and skin care routines: hair removal with inappropriate techniques can lead to inflammation of the hair follicles, which can result in increased melanin production due to inflammation.
- Wearing tight trousers and underwear can also cause discolouration, as the constant friction causes the skin to naturally thicken (hyperkeratinisation) and lead to darker areas, often affecting the inner thighs.
Although hyperpigmentation is a harmless aesthetic problem, it can have a negative impact on our quality of life, self-esteem and intimate life. It is no coincidence that more and more people are looking for a solution to correct hyperpigmentation of the intimate areas.
Dermamelan
In our clinic, we treat the issue with intimate lightening, known as dermamelan intimate peels. The treatment is effective in reducing hyperpigmentation and is combined with the application of a depigmentation gel cream at home to ensure optimal results. Significant improvement is observed in the treated areas after three months of home depigmentation protocol following the clinical treatment. The treatment not only helps to fade pigmentation, but also rejuvenates the skin in intimate areas, restoring a more youthful appearance.
The benefits of intimate lightening:
- Depigmentation of the skin without irritation
- Prevent the recurrence of hyperpigmentation
- Renewal of the outer layers of the skin
- Increase in collagen and elastin production

Personalized treatment plan
Before the treatment, we will prepare a personalised treatment plan to ensure the best results.Treatment
Clinical treatment protocol
- During intimate lighting, our technician first cleans the area and then applies a so-called mesolips protector to protect the mucous membrane and external genitalia.
- During the treatment, she applies several layers of dermamelan intimate exfoliant to achieve the best results. It is applied first on the inner thighs, the pubic mound, the groin, the labia majora and finally the perianal area and removed in reverse order.
- After exfoliation, the area is treated with a neutralising spray and finally cleaned and dried. Next, she applies a 3-4 mm thick layer of dermamelan intimate mask, which must remain in contact with the skin for two hours.
- Then, a dermamelan intimate occlusive sheet is applied to support the action of the active ingredients, as the occlusive effect prevents the product from leaking out of the treated areas.
At-home treatment protocol
Two hours after the clinical treatment, the dermamelan intimate occlusive sheet and mask should be removed. This can be done with plenty of lukewarm water and an appropriate pH intimate cleansing gel.
- Then apply a crystal fibre intimate mask to the treated area. It is recommended to apply it stretched out on a previously towel-protected surface.
- Leave on for 10-15 minutes.
- Apply one or two pumps of dermamelan intimate home depigmenting gel cream every night for 48 hours after compliting the clinical treatment. Evenly cover the target area.
It is recommended that the intimate area is protected with a sanitary pad.
The length of application is determined by the doctor.

The treatment is recommended for all those who suffer from hyperpigmentation of the genital areas, the perineum, pubic mound, groin, inner thighs, buttocks and perianal areas.
Intimate lightening can be used on all skin types and is safe and effective for eliminating unwanted pigmentation.
The formulation for use after clinical treatment includes ingredients such as niacinamide, potassium azelaoyl-diglycinate, tranexamic acid, phytic acid, salicylic acid, kojic acid and glycyrrhiza glabra root extract to help prevent further hyperpigmentation while improving the aesthetic appearance of pigmented areas.
Intimate lighting with strict adherence to the home depigmentation protocol, visibly fades hyperpigmentation in the treated areas. Many patients see an improvement in the first month, and a steady fading of dark spots is observed over two to three months of the home depigmentation protocol.
To enhance the results of the treatment, the peel can be repeated after three to six months.
