NextEmergency solution if needed
Emergency contraception is the method used to prevent unintended pregnancy. It can help in situations where contraception has not been used or has not been used properly during sexual intercourse. The so-called post-conception pill is recommended within 72-120 hours, depending on the product, but is more effective the sooner it is taken.
Emergency contraceptive pills are based on the action of progesterone. They prevent follicle rupture and cause the lining of the uterus to shed, which prevents the fertilized egg from implanting. The product requires a prescription and can only be prescribed by a specialist doctor after an examination and knowing the medical history.

Emergency contraception can be used in the following cases, among others, after sexual intercourse:
Contraception was not used during the intercourse.
- The contraceptive method has not been used properly and there is a risk of pregnancy. For example: condom slippage or tearing, incorrect use of the birth control pill, incorrect use of the vaginal ring, problems with the pessary or cervical cap, etc.
- Failed withdrawal method.
- You are suffering from an illness (e.g. vomiting, diarrhea) that prevents the birth control pill from being absorbed.
There are no long-term side effects of the products. However, dizziness, nausea, sickness, abdominal cramping, vaginal spotting, headache, fatigue and breast tenderness may occur after use. These symptoms are not common and, when they occur, are usually mild and disappear quickly. They have no effect on fertility.
Plan B pill has a higher hormone content, so regular use is not recommended. Using more than one during a cycle can cause problems with hormone balance and can disrupt the menstrual cycle and lead to inflammation. In the long term, the use of contraceptives may be a solution to prevent unwanted pregnancy.
