Corrective breast surgery for the renewal of the breast

It is important for every woman to have beautiful, well-shaped breasts, which represent femininity. It's no coincidence that breast augmentation is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures, as it not only gives you an attractive appearance, but also gives you more confidence.

However, there may be cases where a previous breast surgery needs to be corrected due to aesthetic reasons or complications. This may be the case if the patient is not satisfied with the size or shape of the implants, or if their breasts are asymmetrical.

Corrective breast surgery is common after pregnancy, breastfeeding or major body changes, as well as in cases of implant rupture, leakage or capsular contracture. Corrective breast surgery results in well-placed, functional implants. In some cases, the desired appearance can be achieved with a fat transfer or breast lift, and the painful complications of a previous procedure can be eliminated.

In our clinic, we only use high quality breast implants from FDA-approved manufacturers with CE-marking. Our experienced specialist applies the most advanced surgical techniques to achieve the best results with less inconvenience. Our breast implants come with a lifetime guarantee.

The so-called cohesive gel breast implants are very modern, durable and safe, and can be worn for 20-25 years without any problems.

Immediate results with a personalized approach

The results of corrective breast surgery are immediately visible. The shape of the breasts will change during the recovery period and the final shape will be achieved 4-6 months after the operation, but firmness and proper support can be seen immediately after the operation.

Corrective breast surgery is preceded by careful planning to ensure the best natural result for your needs.

Safe and reliable implants with faster recovery

Our clinic has a wide range of the highest quality, completely safe implants available.

Recovery after corrective breast surgery is faster than after the first surgery.

Procedure

During the initial consultation, our plastic surgeon will examine your current breast condition and your needs and provide a detailed explanation of the possible surgical techniques, where the scars will be located and the results you can expect from the operation. The implants to be inserted will be selected, as breast correction usually involves replacing the implants to change the size, type or to correct complications. A detailed surgical plan is then established.

Before the operation, some mandatory tests are necessary: laboratory tests, ECG, chest X-ray and breast ultrasound or mammography are essential in all cases. Some diseases, medication and previous plastic surgery may also warrant further tests.

Corrective breast surgery is performed under general anaesthesia and takes 1-3 hours depending on the type and complexity of the operation. It requires a one-day stay in our clinic.

Corrective breast surgery to change the size or type of implant

Our plastic surgeon makes a surgical incision of about 5-6 cm under the breast, and then creates a new sac inside the breast to receive the new implant, after which the new implants are inserted.

Corrective breast surgery in case of capsular contracture

Our specialist will expand or remove the tight capsule after an incision under the breast, followed by the insertion of the new implants.

Frequently Asked Questions

Corrective breast surgery is recommended if:

  • the patient is not satisfied with the results of previous plastic surgery, the size, shape or aesthetic appearance of the breasts
  • breast implants previously placed are not compatible anymore after childbirth, breastfeeding or after major weight gain or weight loss
  • capsular contracture has occurred following the insertion of a previous implant
  • the implant needs to be replaced due to damage or leakage

Regular medication can be taken prior to the procedure, but it is essential to consult your plastic surgeon if you are taking anticoagulant medication (e.g. aspirin). Alcohol and smoking should be avoided before and after the operation, as they may impair the body's ability to heal properly.

Recovery time is usually faster than with the first surgery. You may experience some minor pain, swelling, bruising and itching 24-72 hours after the procedure. The swelling should disappear within about three months. Regeneration should be supported by the use of scar treatment creams. The post-operative healing process can be accelerated by drinking enough water, resting and using skin regeneration products recommended by the surgeon.

A special compression bra must be worn for 8 weeks. For two weeks, any sport or physical activity involving intensive movement of the shoulder and pectoral muscles is not allowed. The wound should not be exposed to direct UV light and it is important to avoid sunbathing and tanning as this can have a negative effect on scarring. Sauna use is also not allowed.

It is a very safe surgery with minimal risks, but as with any procedure, complications can occur.

These include(s):

  • post-operative bleeding, inflammation, infection
  • keloid, hypertrophic or atrophic scarring
  • inflammation of the surgical scar
  • skin and fat necrosis
  • skin discoloration
  • prolonged oedema/swelling
  • accumulation of fluid around the implant (seroma)
  • capsular contracture
  • asymmetry

Implants are becoming more and more advanced and their lifespan is constantly increasing. Depending on the type, they can be worn safely for up to 20 years. Polyurethane-coated implants can last a lifetime. The most durable are the modern, cohesive gel-filled and textured implants, which most manufacturers offer a lifetime guarantee. Of course, there are also shorter-lasting implants, which are designed to last for around 10 years. It is always worth asking about this during a personal consultation with a plastic surgeon to decide on the best possible breast implant.

For breast implants, there are two types of guarantee: the warranty and lifetime guarantee given by the manufacturers and the FDA certification, which indicates safety and low health risks. The lifespan of implants depends greatly on your body's characteristics and the surgical technique used.
