Bullhorn lip lift
A permanent and remarkable solution to lift and plump the upper lips. Fuller pout without fillers.
NextBullhorn lip lift for naturally plump and voluminous lips
Plump lips are a symbol of femininity. As we age, the skin between the nose and the upper lip can sag, increasing the gap and making the lips appear smaller, disrupting the harmony of the face.
The bullhorn lip lift procedure is a professional solution to lift the upper lip and at the same time naturally enhance it without injecting fillers, restoring the natural proportions of the face. The lip lift provides long-term, permanent results, all naturally and without artificial effects.
During the outpatient procedure, our plastic surgeon shortens the distance between the lips and the nose, known as the philtrum, by removing excess skin, thereby elevating the upper lips.
The name 'Bullhorn' refers to the shape of the excised skin. After the procedure, the fine scar - which fades almost completely within six months - runs in a continuous line from one nostril to the other
A safe and fast way
The bullhorn lip lift is an outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia, so there is no need to worry about the potential risks of general anesthesia. Complications occur in a very low percentage of cases. The procedure takes only 30 minutes to an hour and has a short recovery time.
Personalized surgical approach with instant results
Lip lifts are carefully planned to ensure the best natural result for your unique needs.
The lifted appearance and fuller looking lips can be seen immediately after surgery.
Procedure
During the initial consultation, our plastic surgeon will assess your facial characteristics and your needs and discuss the procedure in detail, as well as the expected results. Afterwards, the surgical plan will be prepared.
A bullhorn lip lift is a half to one hour outpatient surgery. The procedure is performed under topical/local anesthesia.
During the operation, our plastic surgeon will prep the area, clean and disinfect the surgical area and then make an incision from one nostril to the other.
Next, excess skin is removed and the area is closed by lifting the lips and suturing the line under the nose.

A bullhorn lip lift is ideal for anyone who:
- have increased distance between the nose and upper lips due to aging
- have narrow upper lips
- have a wide nose bridge
- feels like their lips are not full enough and they are looking for a permanent solution
In the following cases it is better to choose another method:
- the distance between the nose and the lips is too short
- uneven teeth alignment
- history of healing with keloid scars
In case of oral diseases (e.g. herpes), it is recommended to consult the plastic surgeon to verify whether the procedure can be performed successfully.
Regular medication can be taken before the operation, but it is essential to consult the plastic surgeon about anticoagulant medication (e.g. aspirin). You should avoid alcohol and smoking in the days before and after the operation, as these can affect the body's ability to heal properly. Recovery can be supported by drinking plenty of water, proper rest and the use of skin-regenerating products recommended by the surgeon.
Recovery after surgery is quite fast. Minor swelling and bruising may occur, which can be reduced by using ice packs. If there is slight pain and soreness in the affected area for a couple of days after the operation, over-the-counter painkillers can be used. Suture removal takes place 7-10 days after the operation.
You should avoid any major physical activity for a few days after the operation. It is also recommended to do very little mouth movement. Swelling of the upper lip is normal for 1 week after the operation, especially in the case of previous lip augmentation. Bruising can occur, but will disappear on its own within 5-14 days. Also, sleeping in a semi-sitting position can improve the healing process.
The procedure is very safe, but like any other surgery, bullhorn lip lift can carry some risks. These, and the possibility of developing them, will be discussed in detail with the surgeon during the initial consultation.
