Aging hands

The first signs of aging often appear first on the hands, as the skin is extremely thin and contains less fatty tissues there, so the lack of collagen becomes visible quite quickly. With conscious skin care and well-timed treatments, we can effectively delay and even reverse or slow down the process.

What promotes the aging process of the skin on our hands?

Aging is an inevitable, natural process. Since our mid-twenties the amount of collagen-, elastin- and hyaluronic acid decreases – these molecules have an important rule in keeping the skin even, firm and soft.

The first signs of the process usually appear earlier on the hands than on the facial skin because of the high level of everyday stress affecting the area. The skin is much thinner and has fewer adipose tissue and sebaceous glands, therefore the reduction of collagen synthesis becomes almost immediately visible.

The skin may become loose before the age of 30 and small wrinkles or fine lines can appear. Over the age of 40 the collagen production starts an intense decline which significantly fastens the whole process.

The aging process and volume loss of the hands are influenced by several circumstances: genetic factors, oxidative stress, unhealthy lifestyle and hormonal imbalance. However harmful environmental changes, like air pollution and UV radiation also can leave a mark on the skin surface.

Unfortunately the aging process is inevitable and cannot be avoided completely, but there are some methods for delaying the unpleasant changes. Being conscious about your skincare, having a healthy lifestyle and undergoing well-timed professional aesthetic treatments can delay the appearance of the first signs and slow down the mechanism.

What can we do about the aging process of the hands?

Skinbooster treatments Skinbooster treatments

Skinbooster treatments

Skinbooster treatments are proven remedies for loose skin on hands and can restore the healthy skin barrier. The aging process includes the deceleration of skin metabolism which gets reset by biorevitalization generating a youthful appearance.

The biorevitalizing hyaluronic-based injectable fillers contain low- and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid which provide the rehydration and radiation of the skin. The low molecular weight hyaluronic acid increases the collagen- and elastin production and rebuilds the dermis. The high molecular weight hyaluronic acid is responsible for the volume, tightness and lifted effect. Thanks to this active agent the damaged epithelial cells regenerate and the skin becomes fuller, healthier and well-contoured.

The Juvéderm® Volite, Profhilo and Ejal 40 treatments are incredibly effective. In addition there are dermal fillers especially for stimulating the collagen production, e.g. the calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA)-based Radiesse, which has a long-term supporting effect on the natural collagen- and elastin production, while promoting the physiological regeneration process of the aging hands.

Radiesse

This treatment is an effective and long-lasting skin-tightening technique. The Radiesse is an injectable implant, composed of smooth calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres which works as biostimulators. These special fillers stimulate the collagen- and elastin-production of the treated area, giving You a perfect solution for restoring the volume of the area.

Non-ablative laser rejuvenation

Over time, the texture and quality of the skin changes on the hands. Non-ablative rejuvenation uses a special fractional laser to soften or even restore existing wrinkles while stimulating natural collagen production. This improves the overall quality, firmness and texture of the skin.

Nordlys IPL hyperpigmented spot treatment

Nordlys IPL hyperpigmented spot treatment

Hyperpigmentation or age spots on the back of the hands are darker discolourations that can disturb the natural appearance of the skin. They often develop as a result of long-term exposure to the sun and can increase in both number and intensity over time. However, it is important to know that this aesthetic problem is also treatable: it can be faded or even eliminated by Nordlys IPL treatment.
